History of Earl Grey Tea Rooms

In reply to enquiry regarding the history of the tea rooms. There is no connection with Earl Grey or the manufacture/blending of the tea. It is just a good name for a tea room! The tea rooms has been operating for 25 years and is well established and popular in York. The building itself was once a jewellers and was originally two buildings. If you go back in history it would have been a butchers, as most of the buildings on the Shambles were. Research the Shambles, York and you may find more information.

History of the tea room

We were there in June 2013 and I was curious as to the history of the place. Someone had told us it was the original Earl Grey outlet. The site listed seems to be a type of search engine & doesn't give any information on the history of it. Could I get some information on this? Thanks
