Kaboom! York Fireworks Display

Kaboom is set to be North Yorkshire’s biggest fireworks party! Kaboom will feature an absolutely awesome fireworks display designed by Jitu Desai – one of the world’s best pyro-technicians. The fireworks (starting at approximately 19:15) will last over 20 minutes and will be fully choreographed with lighting and special FX to a specially commissioned James Bond soundtrack marking 50 years of the iconic film series and celebrating York’s links to Bond with Dame Judi Dench (who plays M) and Bond theme composer John Barry both hailing from York. The main stage – hosted by BBC Radio York – will keep you entertained from 1600 to 2200 with music, special guests and a Bond themed fancy dress competition with a terrific prize for one lucky person dressed as a character from any of the Bond films. The 4th November is a significant date in the history books as on that date in 1605 former York resident Guy Fawkes was caught red-handed with his 36 barrels of gunpowder in the cellar underneath the Houses of Parliament. The York Dungeon are presenting a specially commissioned re-enactment of The Gunpowder Plot, the grand finale of which will signal the start of the display – so it is guaranteed that this version of the plot will have a very explosive ending! Furthermore, we believe that Kaboom will be the only display in the world where Guy Fawkes will be actually lighting the fuse to set off the fireworks rather than being burnt on a bonfire!! After the fireworks, the headline act on the main stage is X Factor finalist Marcus Collins performing a selection of tracks from his new album. As well as the awesome fireworks and entertainment on the main stage there will also be a huge funfair featuring rides, side-stalls and food options to suit all the family.
