VIVIENNE WESTWOOD OPENS A STANDALONE BOUTIQUE

10 Blake Street, YORK, YO1 8QG - Tel 01904 673 333

A standalone Vivienne Westwood boutique is to open in the historic city of York early in September 2008.  The 2,000 sq ft site will be a decadent haven of fashion for men and women housing Gold Label, Red Label, Anglomania, MAN menswear, jewellery and the full range of Vivienne Westwood accessories including the complete portfolio of fragrances.   The 3 leveled boutique is on one of York’s finest shopping streets, Blake Street close to the York Theatre Royal and situated next to Toni and Guy.

A separate room within the boutique has been specifically designed to house the full Anglomania range.  This bespoke concession is a new addition to Vivienne Westwood stores and can currently only be found in the Nottingham boutique where is has proved a great success.  It will provide the perfect showcase for the Anglomania range which is based on a selection of Vivienne Westwood collections from the past.

Vivienne Westwood fans and the 3.5 million tourists visiting this great city are in for a treat as the boutique creates a magical World of Westwood.   Customers will be immediately transported into an opulent setting decorated with Vivienne’s trademark ORBs and dramatically oversized imagery of the designer and her favourite models.

Dame Vivienne has recently received the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion award at the British Fashion Awards and earlier this year returned to London Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2008 after being absent for nine years.   Vivienne’s Red Label collection will be showing at London Fashion week in September 2008 within days of the store opening in York.

The Vivienne Westwood boutique in York is owned by the leading UK retailer for Vivienne Westwood, Hervia Ltd.  Hervia currently own and run 6 Vivienne Westwood boutiques within their portfolio (including York) and have worked with Dame Vivienne Westwood for many years implementing a structured expansion plan for the brand.

Richard Duncalf, Chairman of Hervia Ltd says, “We have worked with Dame Vivienne for over 15 years and presently have 5 standalone stores dedicated to her designs, we are very happy to be opening a store in York as we feel there is a strong fashion presence in the city and a vibrancy that will embrace Vivienne Westwood.  I feel the history and great heritage of this city compliment the brand and we have been mindful of this when designing the boutique.”
