York Maze Halloween
If you’re coming to York with the family on holiday, for the half-term school break, or if you’re here having booked an overseas trip which included cheap holiday insurance, then why not think about giving your visit a traditional Halloween theme? The York Maze Halloween event runs for one week during November each year. It offers many spooky treats and delights as part of a whole week of scary celebrations.
Activities on offer for the event include a treasure hunt within a haunted maze, a haunted house that goes by the name of Barnageddon; spooky ghost rides, a seasonally themed “phantomime” and lots of crafty treats like pumpkin carving too.
Every day at 12.00pm there is a special fancy dress parade with visitors offered the chance to win prizes for being the most spookily dressed visitor there. There is also a special themed Halloween Gift Shop where visitors can buy lots of scary treats to take home for friends and family. Finally, a very special Golden Pumpkin Hunt is on offer, with the chance for one lucky person to win a Pumpkin made from real gold, which is worth £1,000.
For those who still want to pay a visit to York Maze but don’t wish to take part in the Halloween themed activities, it should be noted that all the other usual amenities and play areas will still be open as normal, as will the cafe facilities.
Alongside the daytime excitement, there will also be a special night time event for older teenagers and adults only called “Hallowscream”. This is a ticket only occasion that, according to the York Maze Halloween website will be everyone’s worst nightmares come true.
